Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the Smalt AI platform and services (the "Service"). This AUP is part of and incorporated into our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP.
1. General Principles
You must use the Service responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with all applicable laws. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including activity by users you have authorised.
2. Prohibited Uses
You must not use the Service to:
2.1 Illegal or Harmful Activities
- Violate any applicable law, regulation, or legal obligation
- Facilitate fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, or other financial crimes
- Generate content that promotes violence, harassment, discrimination, or hatred
- Produce or distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits minors
- Engage in or facilitate human trafficking, exploitation, or forced labour
- Create, distribute, or deploy malware, ransomware, or other malicious software
2.2 Deceptive or Misleading Uses
- Generate fraudulent financial reports, analyses, or documents intended to deceive
- Impersonate another person, company, or entity
- Create deepfakes or synthetic content designed to mislead without disclosure
- Manipulate markets or produce content intended to facilitate market manipulation
- Generate fake reviews, testimonials, or endorsements
- Present AI-generated outputs as human-authored in contexts where disclosure is required by law or regulation
2.3 Intellectual Property Violations
- Infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party
- Use the Service to systematically extract, scrape, or reproduce copyrighted material
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices
2.4 Security Violations
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or connected systems
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features or usage limits
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without authorisation
- Introduce viruses, trojans, worms, or other harmful code
- Conduct denial-of-service attacks or otherwise disrupt the Service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
2.5 Misuse of AI Capabilities
- Use the Service to make fully automated decisions with significant legal or financial effects on individuals without appropriate human oversight
- Rely on AI outputs as the sole basis for regulated financial advice without professional review
- Use the Service to develop weapons, surveillance tools, or systems designed to infringe on human rights
- Attempt to extract, replicate, or reverse-engineer the underlying AI models
- Use the Service to generate spam or unsolicited communications at scale
2.6 Resource Abuse
- Use automated means to excessively access the Service beyond reasonable use
- Resell, redistribute, or share access to the Service without authorisation
- Use the Service to build a competing product or service
- Share account credentials with unauthorised parties
3. Responsible AI Use
Smalt AI is a powerful tool designed to augment human decision-making, not replace it. We expect all users to:
- Maintain Human Oversight: Review and verify AI-generated outputs before acting on them, especially for financial decisions, legal documents, and client-facing materials.
- Disclose AI Use: Where required by law, regulation, or professional standards, disclose that AI tools were used in generating content.
- Protect Sensitive Data: Exercise caution when inputting highly sensitive data (e.g., material non-public information, personal identification numbers). Use enterprise security features where available.
- Report Issues: Report any concerning, inaccurate, or potentially harmful AI outputs to support@smaltai.com.
4. Sensitive Data Guidelines
While our platform is designed to handle business-sensitive data securely:
- Do not input government-issued identification numbers (e.g., Social Security numbers, passport numbers) unless specifically required by a feature designed for that purpose.
- Do not input payment card numbers (PCI data) into AI conversations.
- Do not input health records or medical data (PHI/HIPAA data) unless you have an appropriate agreement in place.
- Exercise caution with material non-public information (MNPI) and ensure compliance with applicable securities regulations.
5. Enterprise Customer Responsibilities
If you are an enterprise customer with multiple users:
- You are responsible for ensuring all authorised users comply with this AUP.
- You must implement appropriate access controls and user management.
- You must promptly revoke access for users who no longer require it.
- You must notify us promptly of any suspected violations by your users.
6. Monitoring and Enforcement
- We reserve the right to monitor use of the Service for compliance with this AUP.
- We may investigate suspected violations and cooperate with law enforcement where required.
- We do not proactively monitor the content of your inputs or outputs, but we may review content when we have reason to believe a violation has occurred.
7. Consequences of Violation
Violations of this AUP may result in:
- Warning: For first-time or minor violations, we may issue a warning and request corrective action.
- Suspension: Temporary suspension of access to the Service pending investigation.
- Termination: Permanent termination of your account for serious or repeated violations.
- Legal Action: Pursuit of legal remedies where appropriate, including reporting to law enforcement.
We will use reasonable efforts to notify you before taking enforcement action, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the Service, other users, or the public.
8. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any use of the Service that violates this AUP, please report it to:

9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP to reflect changes in our Service, applicable law, or industry best practices. We will notify users of material changes at least 30 days before they take effect.
